I'm thinking this video blogging might be a fun creative addition to my blog world! I just need to remind myself it's not about having my makeup all perfect or my kids quiet....it will be the life of Staci Scheffer. It will be at times chaotic, crazy, no makeup and sometimes ponytails in hats. Other times is will be peaceful quiet and uh....yeah hair done and makeup! LOL! Let me know your thoughts.

Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum for me!

As some of you know I was named "Bubble Gum Bopper" by my mom when I was around oh...18 months? Don't quote me but I know its close. There are many stories floating around out there. The following are true; Yes, I did have a ABC (already been chewed) collection on my head board. Yes, when I was VERY young I would pick ABC out from under tables at restaurants and chew on it. Yes, I can still remember the taste of Cinnamon Dentine and ashes from the Bowling Alley, and yes....I am still known as the great "BUBBLE GUM BOPPER." I do not however have any issues with ABC of any kind.
The picture above was taken 2.20.2010 my 36th birthday weekend. If I was still a toddler I would have thought I died and gone to heaven when I found this place. Instead I decided to give back to the ABC world. Todd....the love of my life decided he would support me here. :) Here's to 36 years of Bubble Gum Bopping!

Hey everyone! It's been awhile....
If you follow my blog you would know that last year Todd and I made the decision (with much prayer) to homeschool our three boys. *Note: Todd and I...(I couldn't do it all alone) The past few days I have been preparing and studying for the upcoming school year. I started to write out the SLP's (student lesson plans)and got a little overstimulated. If you're a homeschool parent you know how overwhelming it can be at times. There is so much information and resources out there! To make it even more difficult your child's education is one of the most important decisions you can make for their future. Feeling a little exhausted and a major headache coming on I had to stop what I was doing and go to the word for clarity. This is what I found;

Deuteronomy 6:4-8 (NIV)
Hear, O Israel: 4 The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all you strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your forehead. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

After reading that I went directly to the foot notes and this is what it said, "The Hebrews were extremely successful at making religion an integral part of life. The reason for their success was that religious education was life-oriented. They used the context of daily life to teach about God. The key to teaching your children to love God is stated simply and clearly in these verses, If you want your children to follow God, you must make God a part of your everyday experiences.You must teach your children diligently to see God in all aspects of life, not just those that are church related."

Ah....just what I needed. Basically what it means (parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents) is that it doesn't matter what kind of schooling (private, public or home) our children have, it is our responsibility to be diligent in teaching our children by example (not just in church) that God is alive. Handing down the teachings of God needs to be intentional, top priority.

This was a school day the Scheffer boys will NEVER forget! During our daily devotion time today I was led to mix school up a little. We needed a break from the same hum drum of doing papers and blah, blah, blah. The title for today's lesson was FUN! Here's what we came up with!

In the middle of 6th grade I was pulled from public school and home schooled by my Grandmother. From the very moment she started teaching me she encouraged me to write! She said I had an amazing gift. At that time I took it like she just wanted me to get my "Creative Writing" done. A few years have passed and she saved all my short stories. I recently read them, as a 6th grader I wrote some pretty cool stuff. In the past few months I have had some people encourage me to put my ideas and art on paper. I thinking timing is perfect!

I sketched the first picture today! Will I use it? Not sure. I think I will work on a couple different sketches until I know, that I know its the one. I do know that I have a vision for a GREAT Children's book with a fabulous faith lesson. It's inspired by my youngest son Jesse. Very Exciting!

Special note: Thank you to a few new Twitter friends you have given me some much needed writing/illustrating/publishing direction! I'm so thankful to be surrounded by such joyful, and inspiring people. Loves to everyone!

Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!

We had so much fun picking out the tree this year! There is a tree farm across the street from our house so we decided to walk with the little red wagon. Each one of us had a completely different idea of what a Christmas tree should look like. Todd likes the tall skinny ones, I like the tall fat full ones, the boys all tend to go for what daddy likes, so I was SO out voted. The skinny barren looking tree was the winner. It was so funny! When we finally picked out "the one" we were so excited! We got it home decorated it and laughed so hard! We all agree its the smallest saddest looking little tree in the world, but we love it. I think Todd was on when he said, "if we picked this one and thought it was perfect just think how awful the other ones must have looked! Seriously though, I think this year will go down in the books as a favorite. Question is,...should I post a picture of the little bit? MERRY CHRISTMAS & JOY TO THE WORLD!!! LOVES~ Staci

Did you ever have one of those stare at yourself in the mirror moments? You know when you look at your reflection and think… wait a second who are you? Yeah, I did that today. I thought to myself, your face is changing; look at all the new wrinkles around your eyes! Ewe! Look at that aged sun spotted skin! I just stood there looking intently at myself and continued in thought… Is this what people see when they look at me? Then I smiled….lifted my eyebrows, smiled, lifted my eyebrows and flared my nose. It didn’t matter what I did it was still the same middle aged person staring back in the mirror. Then like a ton of bricks, it hit me! What are you doing? Where is the time going?! Where is that youthful crazy fun, funky girl? I don’t know if it was the Peanut Butter and Jet Puffed Marshmallow Crème sandwich I had for lunch or God, but it shook me! It was exactly like in the movies when the EMT takes those shocker things and put them to the person’s heart and they get shocked back to life. WOW, WOW, WOW…….

You might be thinking, “So what, you looked in the mirror noticed a middle aged woman looking back at you.” YEP! That’s right! It’s just what did. I needed that moment for this exact time in my life.

I don’t think it was the Peanut butter and Puffed Mallow Sandwich I believe it was God. He wanted me to take a second and ask myself who do you think you are in me? So this afternoon I’ve been praying and power dumping on paper who I know I am in Him. This is who...

My prayer is that something in this post sets you free to be who God created you to be, not what you “think” you are supposed to be or are told that you are. It seems like the second you’re born you are told who you look like, or who you act like. Don’t carry that, let it go. It’s your job to be who God made you to be.

Family Devotion ='s Good Times!

I’ve had quite a few parents ask what we do for family devotion time at our house, so I decided to blog about it. My prayer is that it encourages you to spend good quality time in the Word with your family as a family. I mean heck… being a parent is the most important ministry there is! (I feel like I need to add- don’t confuse this with your personal devotional time, this should be in addition to.)

**SPECIAL NOTE:**

Devotion time is NEVER exactly the same. We start with an easy outline, and let God go from there. Example: This week we were lead to Psalms 37 and that’s where we plan on studying until we are done. We also spent extra time in prayer because of the felt need. We have four children ages 5 mos. to 11 years and each of them are extremely different (Which means they learn different.) so as I said before, our time with the Lord is NEVER the same, just like every day is different. Have fun and be flexible! Spending time with God and your family is off the hook! Most IMPORTANT: Do not make this special time rushed, negative, strict, boring or most of all religious! Our setting is usually listening and singing to worship music while gathered together around the kitchen table with Whip Cream, Red Sugar Sprinkles over Hot Chocolate and for the Adults…..Hazelnut creamed COFFEE!

Devotion Time Outline

(All of us take turns leading)

Open in Prayer: As an unsaid rule we always start with thanking God for the day, health and a goodnights sleep. Then we ask that he helps us focus on His Word and to PLEASE help us to understand what he is saying.* Sometimes we read the Lord’s Prayer directly out of the Bible ~ the kids love it!

Devotional Book for Kids: This includes a daily scripture and story with an example of how the scripture we studied applies to us today. Basically it brings it home for the kids. (It gives us a little guideline and some fun topics and creative craft ideas.)

Bible Reading: Whoever’s turn it is to lead will decide who reads the Bible scripture and who reads the story. (The leader has to do one or the other.)
Discussion: How about you time? This is a time to answer ANY questions as well as reflection and discussion. It’s a NO hold back time, anything goes. Making fun of or laughing at someone else’s question is not accepted! It happens from time to time but we have worked through it and maturity in that area has grown tremendously! We have learned a lot about our kids and they have learned to trust their siblings and us as their parents. From time to time they will come to us in private to ask a more personal question or a question they may be too embarrassed to ask in open discussion. Making that an option has helped out a lot.

Close in Prayer: Again we thank Jesus for our time together and the freedom of worship. Usually we have a specific topic of prayer then we continue on to where ever God leads us. When we first started they were very shy and awkward. As parents Todd and I set an example and pray passionately and boldly, naturally they follow our lead. (this isn’t happening over night, but is happening) I also ask them to pray over each other a couple times a week if they aren’t led to on their own.

Regarding prayer: I remind the kids that the Bible says in 1Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV): “Pray without ceasing.” I tell them that what the scripture is saying is, to remember to pray continually and frequently throughout the day. I call it an open ended “conversation” prayer that never ends. I encourage (Not to be confused with nag.) them to pray while, playing, walking, riding their scooters, doing school work, pretty much all throughout the day, and sometimes even in the middle of the night. I always say to them; I don’t think God really cares where we pray so long as we pray. I talk to Him all the time, just like I talk to anyone else; after all He is my best friend!

Beach combing, rock and shell treasure hunt, sailing, fishing and more fishing. Jesse reported that he found a "hunting rock" (it looks camo). Caught so far, a shark, a flounder, and .....something else. A more detailed report from the sailors will come in tonight! :)

Testimony from the Scheffer boys! Prayer works!(as if they didn't know that!)Yesterday before the bro's departed they prayed with Mee Maw, Grandpa G, and Daddy. (Mommy and Jorja were at home praying!)In their prayer they thanked God for the chance to go and then asked Him to protect them. Then the big ask, "Please God let us catch some big fish!". Well, looking at the picture God blessed them with a fish. Joshua informed me that Jayden caught a 2ft Dog Shark!! Pretty jazzed boys! All are having fun! ~ stay tuned! PS: In the picture above Joshua is gearing up with Grandpa G for the BIG catch!

Day 1: Early take off high tide was at 1:30pm (that's when you want to head to sea). A couple hours on deck and it's time for some in cabin time for crossword puzzels! Stay posted for updates!

Fruition plus some..

As most of you know we lost one of the best friends we had this weekend, Mike Wallace. He tragically died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday. Mike was a VERY special guy. He had something about him that nobody could explain. A twinkle in his eye, and a smile that would light up the world! He was a shining star that was a joy to be around. My boys loved him dearly and are really feeling the loss of a friend. We have been talking about how blessed we were to know him. The conversation has been about how he would bonk them on the head with the water bottle or a Bible. How he held Jorja while Mommy had to go to the restroom. It was funny and I’ll never forget it! I had to use the restroom soooo bad so I asked Mike to hold my little jewel. When I got back he had that sparkly smile and told me she was fussy until he told her that he wasn’t afraid to go in and get Mommy! (Thanks for being a good girl Jorja!) I’m so happy I had him hold her!
With all the thoughts of Mike running through my mind, I was restless and unable to sleep. I finally dozed off for a blink and woke up on with a word screaming through my head! Fruition...fruition....strange! I had no idea what that word meant until I looked it up. WOW! This is what dictionary.com says it means;
fru•i•tion [froo-ish-uhn]
–noun 1. attainment of anything desired; realization; accomplishment: After years of hard work she finally brought her idea to full fruition.
2. enjoyment, as of something attained or realized.
3. state of bearing fruit.
—Synonyms 1. accomplishment, fulfillment, achievement, completion, perfection, result.

Us Scheffer’s have been through an unexplainable and long (to us) season. I believe a testing season. To remind you; it started in May 07 with Todd's severely broken/crushed ankle, to a surprise pregnancy (very celebrated though!) months of bed rest, abscess tooth / body infection, other crazy body issues (one included a miraculous healing), a move from Monroe to Snohomish (going from selling to renting again), and the loss of a very close and dear friend. In the last year and two months we have not faltered we continue to celebrate the Lord! We are so blessed. What the enemy intends for evil God uses for good! I think the word FUITION was a gift in the midst of a storm. See the pictures below to see some "fruition" in our life.

Isn't God faithful? I was up thinking this morning ~ reflecting on the fact that I have been blessed beyond imagination. I was thinking of the top life changing accomplishments in order they go like this; My Salvation (God), My Wedding Day (Todd}, and the miraculous birth of my 4 children (Jayden, Joshua, Jesse, Jorja). I thank God that he will guide Todd & I gracefully in leading our family with all eyes on Him.

If I could hold time in my hands...

I was looking for a good picture for this blog and stumbled across this one. It was titled "If I could stop time with my hands ~ but I don't have time." It's random but it spoke to me.

It’s been a while since I have Blogged! Here is an update.
I am 33 weeks pregnant with child number 4. I have been on rest with limited activity for a little over 6 weeks now. With much prayer, support and yes rest I have had a sudden burst of energy! It’s been a true testimony to prayer. In the past weeks (year for that matter) I have found myself flat on my face praising God and humbled to tears for how He continues to pour out on my family. Last week it was brought to my attention that a group of people were coming together to bless my family with meals, a freezer and more. Yes, more tears of humility. I am so thankful that God has placed such loving and caring people in my life. Soon I will be completely up and atom! I can't wait to be back in full service and giving the way God has called me to! The time at home has reminded me all over again how I am so blessed to be a wife and mother of 4! Thank you Lord for abundance!
On a ministry note, I am so thankful for people who have stepped up and kept on moving forward! TRC has come out of an amazing month! April was life changing for so many families. The Rock Church, LifeSavers Children’s Ministry hosted the 2nd Annual Easter Eggstravaganza. (See slide show in previous blog.) Along with blessing the community it was successful in inviting people back for 3 Easter Services where people received Christ for the first time or recommitted their lives to Christ. While all that greatness was happening a complete remodel was moving full force! It included 2 of the LifeSavers classrooms, the entire LifeSavers hallways, the Worship Center and last but not least the Men and Women’s restrooms!! Unbelievable! I personally want to thank all volunteers involved and all who gave any amount of time. May you be blessed abundantly and see the fruit! The testimonies are still pouring in! Pretty cool to see what a group of time givers can do together! ~ Priceless! That’s how a generation is changed.
You may ask ~ How can I become a part of this? Or How can I help? The answer is very simple. Go to the main kiosk at the entrance ask for a Ministry of Helps Application fill it out right there and turn it in. (pens will be available) None of the above would have happened with out givers and volunteers. No matter how together everything looks, you are NEEDED. Not sure where to get involved? Plug in somewhere and quit procrastinating…. My personal suggestion, LifeSavers Children’s Ministry is a great place to get started!

Easter Eggstravaganza! ~ What a day!!

First, I have to say that I love being a part of a church that loves the children!! Easter Eggstravaganza was AMAZING today! There was everything you could dream of! The Rock Church thought of it all ~ egg hunts, hard boiled egg eating contests, petting farm, bouncy house, crafts, Easter pictures, face painting, huge prize give aways, and to top off all of that the Christian Motorcycle Association was there with the grill cooking up delicious hamburgers and hot dogs!! I heard some ask.... How can a church pull this off? Easy, a committed people. The volunteers and givers in our church made it all possible. It blessed me to see families blessed today. ~ All because of people. See you at church tomorrow for Easter!! Services are 8:30 am 10:00am and 11:30am. Thank you volunteers!
P. S. Don't get me started on the - comments on how great the bathrooms and newly remodeled children's wing looks!!! ~ You guessed it!! Off the hook! Thank you again Volunteers, Quarry Interns and Staff, every minute spent spent back there made it as amazing as it is!! Did I mention I love (heart) people?!

It's February!

February is one of my favorite months. It makes me think back to elementary school making Valentines and eating candy hearts. I am so excited about this month in LifeSavers Children's Ministry. The "VIRTUE" is Kindness - showing others they are valuable by how you treat them. We are going to challenge the kids to find creative ways to show kindness towards others. This is an exciting time to see what great ideas the kids have about helping others. I look forward to hearing and sharing the many testimonies throughout the month! ~ A great motto for the kids will be; "We are blessed to be a blessing!"

What? New Baby Scheffer a GIRL?

That's right!! We found out that we are having a GIRL! After over 10 years experience with 3 boys this little girl is going to be a new and exciting adventure for our family!

We sat in the dark room with the machine. We oohed and awed at the miracle God has given to us. It rubbed it's face, sucked it's thumb, made the sweetest little stretches and movements then...............at the exact same moment Todd and I saw it~ or should I say didn't see it. We knew what we had just seen was way different than our boys. The ultrasound tech didn't even need to tell us~ we knew! A GIRL!! Shocked was what we were. I couldn't believe my eyes! I had to ask myself is this a dream? Josh and Jesse my two youngest were so excited, and Jayden the oldest didn't quite know what to say. This little girl is going to ROCK our world as we know it!! Hang on here we go! We're ready!

I have had a couple great e-mails I have to share;

" Wow! How exciting! It is a new day and I'm sure you guys have been praying for God's New Vision, New Blessings, New Peace, New Provision, New Territory, New Levels, New Harvest, New Beginnings so He saw it fit that it should be a girl! Something new that with your parental foundation she will be so blessed. "
It's true we have been praying and we look forward to all the good that God has in store for this year!! Rejoicing in the New Day!

Fact. - The Scheffer's are expecting a baby.
You won't find this one on Snopes but it is true. We are 17 weeks along! All family members are very excited to add a new member to the family. The baby is due May 29th 2008. To answer the question you are thinking right now,... WE DON'T CARE! Yes, with 3 wonderful and amazing boys we would be blessed with another boy, but if it is a girl we would be blessed just the same! Stay posted, we will be TRYING to find out what the sex is soon.

To See or Not To See ~ The Golden Compass

I have had many concerned parents e-mail me regarding the upcoming movie, The Golden Compass. It is scheduled to be released in theaters December 7th. I decided to do some research. It's interesting what I found. On Snopes.com it was stated as true that the writer, Philip Pullman was interviewed by The Sydney Morning Herald and stated "My books are about killing God." After reading the very thorough article I came up with an easy conslusion. This is NOT a movie I would endorse. Thursday, November 8th LifeSavers and Total Velocity Ministries is holding a Silent Auction Fundraiser for Summer Camp! It's going to be such a great time! Honestly I have never been to a Silent Auction before in my life and I can't wait! Pastor Travis explained it to me. There are all kinds of donated items some including Hotel Stay in Ocean Shores with massages and dinner for two, Family Membership at the YMCA and much, much more. People write there bid on bidding sheet/s provided. At the end of the evening you get to find out if you win any of the bids! Along with that we will be serving dinner and having a dessert auction. Parents we would love it if your child, ANY age, could make a dessert for auction. Be sure to take a picture of them making it so that on Thursday we can have them auction off their own dessert! Also... INVITE! INVITE! INVITE! Grandma's, Grandpa's, Aunts, Uncles, Friends and neighbors! Everyone you know! This will be a great time to sow in to the youth and children. It will also give kids an opportunity to go to camp at a reasonable cost. Thank you! I can't wait to see you there.

The Scheffer boys joined many other kids in the "back to school" buzz. This was Jesse's (my youngest baby) first year of school. He loves it! The picture on the left is his best buddy Jonathan and him before they found their seat assignments. We consider ourselves blessed to have the two boys in school together.

On Friday Jesse reported that he had some HARD work to do at school. We asked, "What?" and he said, " Coloring!" WOW! I want to go to school with him and do some hard work! :)

The series that Pastor Jeff is on right now is a DO NOT miss! If you are a parent or influence in any child's life you need to be there! It has spoken to our family. We are not perfect, but its confirmation that we are on the right track! Family time is important~ so is time alone and time with your spouse! Do not neglect the guy in your lives ladies. Like Pastor Jeff said, you are setting an example for your children. Be happy together ~ you, your spouse, and your children deserve it. How long does it take for you to wind down for the evening? You know that time where you tell your spouse about the day without little ears? Figure it out then..send the kids to bed. FOR REAL! We get to that "special" hour in the evening when we are done. Our boys know it's time for bed when we say, "go brush your teeth boys". Yes, they whine sometimes... I take it back almost every night (we are working on that). Don't be fooled. They will live! Ignore the things the world says. If in doubt, go to the Word the only true life manual.

I need to add; Parents we are only influential in our child's live for a short time. Make it count. Stick with it and be consistent. Now get off the computer and enjoy the little blessings!

All In A Day

What a day. Have you ever started a day knowing you have alot to accomplish and are really unsure how? That's how I felt when I woke up.

This week has been starting earlier than most, 6:00am! The Rock Church (best church ever) launched a month of prayer dedicated to faithful givers. See you there Tuesdays at 6:30am, Wednesday - Thursday at 8:00am! It's a great way to start the day!

The van was ready to roll with 5 boys (including Todd) and some good music. We were outta here. Destination; Wynoochee Wildwood, Montesano and a Surprise Birthday Party in Ocean Shores. From noon to 1am the Scheffer boys and a good buddy played on a rope swing over a creek, checked out the Wynoochee River, played in the Ocean (witnessed a whale blowing its spout), had fancy appetizers and birthday cake , swam in a pool at the Hotel, played in the Ocean again (in the dark w/ the van's high beams on!) All of that and back to Monroe by 1:00am ~ all in 13 hours. The time together was priceless! We learned some interesting facts about each other. All of the boys accept Jesse has tried to dig a hole to China! Todd and I as well! They ALL know the John Denver song This Land is Your Land! We all sang it together! It was a blessed day, God had his hand on us the entire time! I would do it again in a heart beat!

The "new" check in for LifeSavers and TVM has been in motion for over a month now. The ultimate goal is keeping your children safe while in class as well as making checking in and out quick and smooth. I have heard some great reports from teachers in the classrooms, but I haven't heard much back from parents. What do you think? How is it working for you and your family?

Sticker Book Memories

Ah... the memories of my misplaced sticker collection. All the hours trading with my friends. It was so fun. Do you remember the old skool Scratch n Sniff stickers? They were the hottest stickers to have. Popcorn, Bubble Gum, Grape Jelly, Roller & Apple are only a few. Do you remember the smell of pizza, bubble gum machine or even fried chicken? Poppin Good Popcorn was my favorite! If you don't remember it's something worth looking for. I would love to see a scratch n sniff revival! LOL! Stay posted....I am going to start my sticker collection all over again! WaHoo!

The Race Impact!

The finale began with parents and their children gathering in the Grandstand Assembly Area (Hero's Class). We Broadcasted the greatness of God in worship. After that we headed over to the Grid for the Main Event Carnival! Props to all who poured out this week, your efforts and passion for Jesus shined! We had well over 160 parents and children attend! What a blessing! This year was great! I can't wait for next year!

What an amazing week! Monday the LifeSaver's Children were reven' their engines with anticipation at at start line. It's lap (day) 3 and it has been amazing! The children have been having a blast with the High Octane Story Station, Pit Stop Snacks, High Performance Crafts, and Full Throttle Fun and Games! Parents will be joining us for the Main Event on Friday starting at 10:00am! If you have a child 3years old to entering 2nd grade it's not to late to get on the Track! ~ Today's Trackside Tip; When the Lord gives a command,...obey Him. ~

Summer Camp ~ What was your favorite?

As I pray and prepare for Kids Camp ~ Accelerate I can't help but take a trip down memory lane. What was my favorite part of Summer Camp? My top three are;

1.) The excitement of the ARRIVAL! Who would be there? What will it look like? Will I make any new friends? Will it be fun or boring? Where will I sleep? 2.) NEW Friends! Where I went the groups were assigned a different cabin from the church they came with. I always looked forward to making new friends. Do I still talk to any of them? Not that I know of. I still grew from it. 3.) WORSHIP, I always looked forward to the new songs. I would worship my heart out with all my new friends. 4.) Breakfast! I loved having the opportunity to have hot chocolate everyday!! I guess, the newness and unexpected seems to be a key favorite for me. Staci Fact; At age 13, I was Saved at Summer Camp! Half Empty or Half Full?

Is your glass of water half full or half empty?

This Sunday is the first day of July. Each month Lifesavers Children learn a new Virtue, and Memory Verse. Weekly we teach Bible Stories that support them. (See side bar for this month.) This week the Bible Story is called; "A Perfect World". (Genesis 2-3) Included in the lesson we will hit the following 4 points; 1.) We will be talking about contentment—deciding to be happy with what we have. 2.) Remember that since God is the Creator of contentment, He certainly wants us to be content. 3.) Understand that when we’re content we're happy with what we have. 4.) When we’re happy with what we have, we’re able to change the world around us. How? When we’re happy with what we have, we’re able to have a nice day anyway. And when we’re having a good day, it affects those around us.
Final Thought; If you aren't happy with what you have you will never be happy with what you don't have.

Jesse's Miracle Strawberries

In May, Jesse decided that he wanted to grow strawberries, raspberries, and tomatoes. We went to the plant store and picked out a few starts. Every day Jesse waters them. In the last couple of days the strawberries ripened for eating! It's been a fun experience for us to watch God grow fruit with the perfect recipe of love, water and sunshine. A couple days ago while I was mowing the lawn I notice a baby bird in the grass. It must have fallen from it's nest. I showed my boys and they were very concerned. We put it in the bushes so that it would be safe. (it had very protective parents ~ another story in itself) It lived over night, the parent's must have been feeding it. Later the next day Jesse found the little featherless creature in the middle of the yard. He had a great idea, he was going to feed the poor little bird some of his yummy strawberries. He asked then proceeded to feed it. The bird actually ate the strawberries! He was beside himself excited! He went to bed that night thinking about the bird. The next morning he ran outside to check on it. To his and our surprise it had climbed up on a brush pile we have in the middle of the yard. As he moved toward it, it flew like a true novice to a tree close by! All of us were shocked... a little helpless, featherless bird grew enough wings overnight to make it to safety the very next morning! We all agree that those were miracle strawberries that God helped Jesse grow.

Mowing the Lawn

I found a new hobby! Mowing the lawn. It is an absolute blast! The smell, the stained feet all of it! Don't get me wrong, this wasn't the first time, I have mowed a lawn. It is however the first time I have up kept a lawn. I had a blast battling the lawn mower on Monday. After the mower died about 50 times (yeah, the grass was wet) the blades froze. Being the "fix it myself" woman I am, I decided to flip the mower upside down and fix the blades. I found out why it froze! A stick and a bunch of grass piled up and wouldn't allow the blade to move. I unstuck the stick and picked out the grass, then flipped the mower back on it's wheels. It was fixed right? WRONG! I flooded it and at the same time got oil all over the carburetor. If any of you know anything about motors, you don't want to do that! It filled the carburetor filter up with oil which doesn't allow air to flow through, so in turn the motor won't start. Long story short, trying over and over to start the old girl (I think I sweat a gallon) I fowled the plug. Off to Coast to Coast I went. Thankfully Todd was around to coach me through this... After cleaning the air filter and replacing the spark plug she started right up! It was a 1 hour job that took 3 hours. (Big Smiles) The up keep happened on Thursday. I was a pro-mower by then! It only took 45 minutes. I actually enjoyed it~ the maintenance. Practice is great, repetition makes it easier each time. I'm thankful I didn't quit. It looks beautiful! Next time I will try to make the cool checker board lines. Does anyone have any tips on keeping my dog from creating a lawn mower 4X4 track in beautifully fresh mowed yard? Life is good!

Happy Father's Day Dads!

Happy Father's Day! I spent most of the day at The Rock Church celebrating Dad's. What a blast that was! Pastor Jeff Knight delivered a great message. Dad's deserve time to recharge their batteries! Pastor Melinda Knight and the worship team put together a great set, what an anointing! After service the car show started. For the belly there was Kettle Corn, Barbecue Hamburgers & Potato Chips, even an Ice Cream Truck came. A great band came out and play. Of course there were tons of cars and motorcycles, basic models, custom, classic and new. I wouldn't have missed it for anything! After that the guys (Todd, Jayden, Joshua, and Jesse) and I headed out to Grandma Norma's to celebrate some more. We had a Lasagna dinner with Apple Pie. (Kyle Pearson's is still better!) Dad, (Russell) had double portions on the pie! If you knew him you wouldn't be surprised! All in all it was a great day! Today I celebrate all the Dad's in my life! You know who you are! Big Huge Hugs! ~

Todd's home! After the 6+ hour surgery and a day an a half at Harborview he's home 2 days early! Yay! To celebrate we marshed marshmallows & made Smores! Who would have thought, home early and cooken' on the open fire?! Take the time to thank Him for all the good. Today we made a point to say thank you for a bunch of things here are a few; Daddy (Todd) being home, friends, bonfires and Smores! YUMMY!

"What's Up Doc?"

Introducing Harborviews own, Bradford Henley, M.D. Professor and Todd's Orthopaedic Surgeon. What an amazingly gifted guy! (this picture was taken straight from the operating room directly after surgery while Todd's ankle was still being closed) Many people have spent a lot of time praying over this surgery. So, I thought this would be a great time to share. Like all days, "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!" That is exactly what kind of day it was. A day to rejoice! I made some great friends in the waiting room! Props to Barbara Gregg (the waiting room lady) a very patient woman with a super gift of compassion for all, especially children! Surgery went as well as we all expected! It was a full 6 hour surgery with a couple plates and a few screws. (Only a genius with some help from above could put that puzzle together!) The three pins were removed. ~ Yay! (Grr...I forgot to ask if I could have them for show and tell.) Doctor H. says that surgery went smooth even better than he could have imagined. The joint is nice and smooth now. We are told that recovery would include 3-4 months on crutches and then Todd can start barring weight slowly after that! The plates and screws will stay in. Best news yet is there will be no need for anymore surgeries! ~ Can I hear an Amen! Originally we heard it could be up to 5 surgeries! As always, God is good all the time! It's late and I need sleep so I will touch base later this week. Thank you all again for your support! We love you tons! ~One more thing, everyone keeps asking about the boys. They are having a blast camping out in a fort made in the front room at an awesome friends house. Jenny & Ryan ~ Thank you for taking good care of our babies! We love and appreciate you!

"The Birds and The Bees"

Last night my family of five gathered for our weekly Friday night movie night. In the first hour of the G-Rated movie, very nonchalantly my middle son Joshua pops out with a very innocent question/statement about The Birds and The Bees. "Isn't it weird that you don't have a baby when your not married, and when you get married you have a baby?" RANDOM!.... My 9 year old son Jayden starts busting up laughing. Poor Joshua's face turns bright red with embarrassment and begins to ask, "what, what's so funny?" Needless to say Todd (my husband) and I had to think fast. In defense to Joshua, I asked Jayden if he knew the answer and wanted to share? (I didn't realize he did!) Thankfully he replied, "NO WAY!" He quit laughing pretty quick. LOL! Our answer was simple, "Yes, Joshua it takes and woman and a man together to have a baby, women can have babies when they are not married, but God likes it best when a man and a woman have a baby after they are married." Joshua proceeds to ask, "How does a woman who's not married have a baby then?" ARGG.... (a little uncomfortable here) Acting as if it were no big deal Todd and I responded, " When a man and a woman kiss and get all romantic is the beginning of how a baby is made. To obey God you wait for that until you get married." He swallowed that well and simply said, "Oh." There were a few Yucks, Ews, and Grosses after that then it was dropped. ~ Parents hang in there you have a very important role to play. Don't blow off these very important questions. These are doors of opportunity to teach our children about purity. I'm glad to be the one to tell my child about life and not a public school or someone else who has a different view.

Friendship & Hot Chocolate

For those of you who don’t know me I have the blessing & honor of being the Children’s Director for The Rock Church, Monroe. This morning I sat down to study and pray over the children and this month’s curriculum. Each month we focus on one Memory Verse and one “Virtue”. We plan months in advance, so I should always be prepared. This morning when I started to read the months Virtue and Memory Verse I was moved. The Virtue for this month is; “Friendship” Sharing special times with someone you trust and enjoy. The Memory Verse is; “A friend loves at all times. He is there to help when trouble comes.” (Proverbs 17:17, NIrV) I knew it was coming I just didn’t realize it was this month. God’s timing is amazing! The last week and a half has been a time where my faith was tested. Todd, the love of my life had a very serious dirt bike accident crushing his right ankle into 15 countable pieces. Evergreen Hospital couldn’t help him so they sent us to Harborview Hospital telling us that he needed ankle replacement, and many surgeries. We called our Pastor Jeff Knight to tell him what was going on. He was not going to let anyone replace any ankle with out letting God work first. First test of faith there! He and many other great Pastors of The Rock Church prayed over us. The prayer warriors were notified and more prayers started. Out come? No ankle replacement is neccesary! The second test of Faith for us is financial. Todd is the main provider in our household. His job is very physical, carrying heavy materials up and down stairs etc. God has provided thus far and we have the Faith that he will continue. One of the great messages God is sharing right now is, Friendship. Sharing special times with someone you trust and enjoy. In His word he reminds me that, "A friend loves at all times. He is there to help when trouble comes." (Proverbs 17:17) This week we have had an outpour of friends come running in time of trouble. We praise God that he gives us friends, people that we have been able to trust and enjoy. In close I want to share a poem of an unknown author; Warm as a crackling fire, Sweet as hot chocolate, Comforting as a child's embrace. On good hair days, sometimes it's easier to spread the love and joy to others~ and sometimes it's much harder. If you're having an off the hook great day, remember to pass it along lifting up someone elses day. If your friend or co-worker has been looking a little down and grey, pick them up something special like their favorite candy and and put it in a cheerful bag. If you know someone that may be in an unpleasant situation, or feeling sad drop by with a deck of cards and an uninterruption-free hour. Encouraging someone else will only make our joyful day better! Motorcross a Curse?

My husband Todd and I met in 1988. I thought he was a pretty cool guy. One of the really cool things about him was that he raced Motorcross (MX). I was raised around motorcycles so I was pretty familiar with the dirt bike thing. I really liked it! It didn't take long hanging around Todd before I became a racer as well! We had a common love for dirt! I think it was then when we really fell in love. I remember the day I got my drivers licence I drove to SIR to watch Todd race. It was our lives, we worked for the weekends. Meaning that we worked to race, race, race, and make our bikes faster, faster, faster! That's just how it was. During that time we had many visits to the hospital with tons of hours invested in the ER. Todd more, I wasn't quite as daring as he was. Everything from stitches, broken ribs, concussions, and even a screw or two hear and there. We were known in our family as the adrenaline junkies.(Whatever) In 1997 we had our first born son, Jayden. We decided then that for sure without a question our career in MX was over. Yeah, right! Have you ever met a Motorcrosser that quit forever???? NO! The fresh smell of dirt or trick gas. The sound of a 2 & 4 stroke motors, that rin..nin... nin.. ping.. the whole thing! We took our stabs at it with the little teases riding friends bikes. Jayden had his first PW50 (dirt bike) at 2yrs old. I'm sold to the fact that once a Motorcrosser always a Motorcrosser. We really love the two wheel thing. I don't care if they are street bikes, dirt bikes or even scooters! The whole family loves it. The question is; Is it a curse? Today, 11 years after a horrible ankle injury due to racing (the one with the screws) the same sort of thing happened again! A quick "little" ride with the simple intention of taking a couple mellow laps, ended us up in the all too familiar ER. You can't be too careful. There is a huge difference this time. It is that we have the support of our church family that we didn't have before. God is good, and we are believing for a miracle recovery. Todd and I both are humbled at the support. Our Pastors are amazing people. ~ Thank you. Thank you to all of our friends, family & extended family, for supporting us when we need you. Thank you prayer warriors. We love and appreciate you. FYI; I'm pretty sure that after today, we will be spectators enjoying the sights, smells, and sounds from the side lines. In the mean time we will be praying against any MX curses that might try to fall on our boys. Be Safe! Oh and did I say, "THANK YOU!"?

AA Little League

My oldest son, Jayden plays AA Little League on the CUBS. This is his first year of kid pitch. He's adjusted well! The past couple years of Rookie Division and 6 y/o Tee Ball was cute with little kids making the expected mistakes, overthrowing, never catching and few hits. What a change! The competition this year has seriously changed. Little Leaguers are hitting like crazy, catching pop flies, grounders and line drives! They steal bases, I mean they have an understanding of the strategy now! Not to mention practice, they practice hours and hours at a time. (not forced, the boys love it!) Thank you coaches for your time and committment. Some coaches are teaching kids great values but there are the few who are extremely questionable. I need to add that this is not to beat up on coaches or single anyone out. I just submit to you, that if you are a coach, or parent and you read this, I would hope that you would think about your attitude and what you are teaching the kids. Some plays are bad and some Umps make bad calls, but give the dog a bone. They are out there, giving of their time as well, helping create a memory for a child.

I took it upon myself to read the Little League rules for the 2007 season. Here is what I found;

Rule 1 - Purpose: The purpose of Little League is to cultivate sportsmanship in young people and to help them play at their personal best. Conduct inconsistent with this standard is not permitted. (Reflection,.. Does poor sportsmanship from adult leaders help the young people play at their personal best?)

Okay, so I sit down to try to figure this "BLOG" thing out and I am having a tough time! I guess it's called learning. It looks easy for everyone else! The questions is where is my EASY button? GRRR!
