Did you ever have one of those stare at yourself in the mirror moments? You know when you look at your reflection and think… wait a second who are you? Yeah, I did that today. I thought to myself, your face is changing; look at all the new wrinkles around your eyes! Ewe! Look at that aged sun spotted skin! I just stood there looking intently at myself and continued in thought… Is this what people see when they look at me? Then I smiled….lifted my eyebrows, smiled, lifted my eyebrows and flared my nose. It didn’t matter what I did it was still the same middle aged person staring back in the mirror. Then like a ton of bricks, it hit me! What are you doing? Where is the time going?! Where is that youthful crazy fun, funky girl? I don’t know if it was the Peanut Butter and Jet Puffed Marshmallow Crème sandwich I had for lunch or God, but it shook me! It was exactly like in the movies when the EMT takes those shocker things and put them to the person’s heart and they get shocked back to life. WOW, WOW, WOW…….
You might be thinking, “So what, you looked in the mirror noticed a middle aged woman looking back at you.” YEP! That’s right! It’s just what did. I needed that moment for this exact time in my life.
I don’t think it was the Peanut butter and Puffed Mallow Sandwich I believe it was God. He wanted me to take a second and ask myself who do you think you are in me? So this afternoon I’ve been praying and power dumping on paper who I know I am in Him. This is who...

My prayer is that something in this post sets you free to be who God created you to be, not what you “think” you are supposed to be or are told that you are. It seems like the second you’re born you are told who you look like, or who you act like. Don’t carry that, let it go. It’s your job to be who God made you to be.
Psalm 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me in together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

You forgot to say that you are also a wonderful daughter in law. I remember the first time I met you. You were wearing flowered leggings and if I remember correct a stripped top! I believe you were 15. God is great ,how many people get to have what he has blessed me with, 9 wonderful grandchildren (of course 4 of them are Todd and Staci's) 2 sons (Todd and Eric) 1 daughter (Sommer) and 2 ( of the best in the world daughter in laws Staci and Mikele) and a special son in law Juan. Life is not what we always want it to be. But it is often what we need. I am fortunate I get to work with people who daily are given the news that they have a disease that will limit their lifetime on this earth. Because of this I have learned so much. It is not the quanity nor the stuff, nor is it what other people what you to be. I often think "how do I want to be remember? Who's life will be different because I was here? I am not perfect, but I am a daughter of the Lord. We all have to remember to be thankful for the fact that we have the right to blog about the fact that we love God and Jesus Christ not all can do that nor do all know about the love there is in the Lord.
I think you're fantastic! :) I had one of those days last year, and made a very similar list (must be the age!). Although we aren't reallly middle aged - that's like mid-40's! :) But really, I hear what you're saying and there is GREAT freedom in allowing God to tell you who you are and not the world, expectations of others or even ourselves. He is our designer and creator and only when we walk in who He's called us to be are we truly walking in obedience, peace and grace. True freedom.
